We reserved a bus from our hostel to the Great Wall for approx 35 usd pp to visit the area of Mutianyu, which is not as crowded as other areas. It takes 1.5 hours from Beijing to reach this place and once you get there, you can choose either going up by cable car for appox 20 usd round way or walking up the stairs. The way back you can also choose the slide down or walking down the stairs again. 

We chose for walking up the stairs, which are about 4.ooo steps and it is a pretty nice experience but hard…. really hard! (A few days later our calves were still in pain).  

Once we managed to reach to go up in the mountain and recover our breath, we started from tower 10 upwards. It was still a long way to reach tower 24, which has the best view and from here the ´old´or unrestored part of the wall starts.

This was just the beginning of the 2,000 steps up ….. with a wining wife

Just matter of climbing this last part and we are almost there

We made it and still we managed to smile!

We finished this tour with a well deserved lunch.
